AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AMENDING SECTION 13.36.040 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH
TWO-HOUR PARKING ZONES ON A PORTION OF THE SOUTHSIDE OF
TROUSDALE DRIVE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF MARCO POLO WAY
AND ON THE EAST SIDE OF MARCO POLO WAY NEAR THE
INTERSECTION OF TROUSDALE DRIVE
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as
follows:
Section 1. Factual Background and Findings.
WHEREAS, at its February 10, 2011 meeting, the Traffic Safety and Parking
Commission (TSPC) heard from Mr. Bob Hortop, Vice President, Mills -Peninsula Health
Services regarding his request for the City to evaluate the implementation of 2 -hour
parking for the four on -street parking spaces (two on Trousdale Drive and two on Marco
Polo Way) surrounding the Mills -Peninsula Health Services Fitness and Therapy Center
at 1875 Trousdale Drive; and
WHEREAS, it was explained that the 2 -hour parking zone at these locations
would allow patients and clients of the Fitness and Therapy Center to better use the four
on -street parking spaces on the two streets surrounding the Center; and -
WHEREAS, currently there are no parking restrictions for any of the on -street
parking spaces surrounding the Fitness and Therapy Center; and
WHEREAS, because the neighborhood consists of high-density residential
structures to the west and medical/commercial office facilities to the east, there is high
demand for on -street parking by the businesses during the day and high parking demand
by the residents of the surrounding apartment complexes in the evenings; and
WHEREAS, the designation of a 2 -hour parking zone for the four spaces along
Trousdale and Marco Polo would allow for more frequent parking turnover for those
spaces during the day, while allowing for on -street parking for residents after 6 PM; and
WHEREAS, the TSPC recommended that the City Council adopt an ordinance
implementing the 2 -hour parking zone for the spaces as indicated.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 2. The City Council hereby adds a new Sub -section (a)(28) to Sub -section (a)
of Section 13.36.040 of the Burlingame Municipal Code to read as
follows:
"(28) Trousdale Drive,
south side,
from
the curb return of Marco Polo
Way to forty (40) feet
east of said
curb
return.
Section 3. The City Council hereby adds a new Sub -section (a)(29) to Sub-secrion (a)
of Section 13.36.040 of the Burlingame Municipal Code to read as
follows:
"(29) Marco Polo Way, east side, from the curb return of Trousdale
Drive to forty (40) feet south of said curb return.
Section 4. The City Engineer and the City Transportation Engineer are directed to

nstall parking signs and to take all other necessary actions to implement
this parking restriction change on Trousdale Drive and Marco Polo Way,
Section 5. The City Clerk is directed to publish this ordinance in the manner required
by law.

certify that the foregoing ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on the 18th day of April, 2011, and adopted thereafter at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 2nd day of May, 2011, by the following vote:
