AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AMENDING SECTION 13.36.040 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH
TWO-HOUR PARKING ZONES ON THE 1500 BLOCK OF NEWLANDS AVENUE
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. Factual Background and Findings.
WHEREAS, the City has received a petition and complaints from residents of the
1500 block of Newlands Avenue regarding long-term daytime business parking on these
streets; apparently, employees from the business district have been parking on these
parts of Newlands Avenue for the duration of their work shift, making daytime parking for
the residents nearly impossible; and
WHEREAS, the 1500 block of Newlands Avenue has no parking restrictions; and
WHEREAS, on
October 10,
2013,
the Traffic Safety
and Parking
Commission
(TSPC) discussed this
matter with
residents
of the 1500 block
of Newlands
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the meeting, the TSPC determined that the
parking situation in the 1500 block of Newlands Avenue met the policy requirements to
qualify for the current Residential Parking Permit Program and, with near -unanimous
support from the residents of the 1500 block of Newlands, recommended that the City
implement a 2 -hour parking restriction on the 1500 block of Newlands Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the 2 -hour parking time -limit restriction is apre-requisite to the
nclusion of Newlands Avenue in the Residential Parking Permit Program (RPPP); the
addition of Newlands Avenue to the RPPP will occur by Council Resolution after the
Public Works Department has installed then -hour parking limit restriction signage;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 2. The City Council hereby adds Sub -section (a) (28) of Section 13.36.040
of the Burlingame Municipal Code to read as follows:
"(28) Newlands Avenue, both sides."
Section 3. The City Engineer and the City Transportation Engineer are directed to
install parking signs and to take all other necessary actions to implement
this parking restriction change on the 1500 block of Newlands Avenue.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to publish this ordinance in the manner required
by law.

regular meeting of the City Council held on the 4th day of November, 2013, and adopted
thereafter at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 18th day of November,
20131 by the following vote:
