HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - CC - 2004.04.20APPROVED MINUTES JOINT CITY COUNCIL MEETING HILLSBOROUGH AND BURLINGAME CITY COUNCILS MONDAY, April20,2004 Mayor Regan of Hillsborough called the Joint City Council Meeting to order at 4:30 p.m at the Hillsborough Town Hall, 1600 Floribunda Avenue, Hillsborough California. ROLL CALL HILLSBOROUGH: Present: Mullooly, Fannon, Adams, Kasten, Regan ROLL CALL BURLINGAME: Present: Absent: Baylock, Coffey, Galligan, O'Mahony Nagel 1 NEW BUSINESS: MERGER OF BURLINGAME AND HILLSBOROUGH FIRE DEPARTMENTS; RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYORS TO SIGN AND ADOPT THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FORMING THE CENTRAL COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT City Manager Anthony Constantouros explained to the Hillsborough City Council, and the Burlingame City Council that the meeting tonight was to adopt the resolution authorizing the Mayor from each Town and City, to sign the Joint Powers Agreement creating the Central County Fire Department. Mr. Constantouros asked if there were any questions or comments from the City Cou ncil. Mayor Regan said he was excited to see that the two fire departments set a strong example for other cities to learn from the hard work Hillsborough and Burlingame put towards this merger of these departments. Mayor O'Mahony said Burlingame and Hillsborough discussed this merger for over the past ten years and had been unsuccessful. After three years of acquiring information, the ended result was the joining of the two fire departments. On motion of Councilmember Mullooly, seconded by Vice Mayor Kasten, unanimous on voice vote, the resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the Joint Powers Agreement creating the Cenkal County Fire Department was adopted. On motion of Vice Mayor Galligan, seconded by Councilmember Baylock, unanimous on voice vote, the resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the Joint Powers Agreement creating the Central County Fire Department was adopted. ADJOURN: Hillsborough Mayor D. Paul Regan adjourned the meeting at 4:57 p.m The City Council members gave many thanks and congratulations to Fire Chief Dave Milanese, Fire Chief Bill Reilly, City Manager Anthony Constantouros and City Manager Jim Nantell for a job well done. The City Council also thanked the efforts of the fire fighters from both cities in helping make this transition successful.
