AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AMENDING CHAPTER 13.20.010
OF THE BURLINGAME MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD STOP SIGNS AT VARIOUS
LOCATIONS IN THE CITY
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. Factual Background and Findings.
WHEREAS, Public Works staff has received requests for and conducted stop
sign warrant analysis for stop signs at six intersections, and
WHEREAS, as part of the traffic study and warrant analysis, staff installed
temporary stop signs on a pilot basis at six intersections as follows:
• Rollins Road, North Carolan Avenue and Marsten Road
• Trousdale Drive and Ogden Drive
• Trousdale Drive and Marco Polo Way
• Hillside Drive and Alvarado Avenue
• Hillside Drive and Cortez Avenue; and
• Bayswater Avenue and Anita Road
WHEREAS, the above intersections satisfied traffic warrants for consideration of
new stop signs to be installed on a permanent basis, and
WHEREAS, the six intersections were presented to the Traffic, Safety, and
Parking Commission for input and recommendation, and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Safety and Parking Commission unanimously
recommended that the City Council consider installation of permanent stop signs at
these intersections.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 2. The City Council hereby amends Chapter 13.20.010 of the Burlingame
Municipal Code to read as follows:
13.20.010 Stop intersections.
The operator of any vehicle entering any of the following designated intersections
shall bring the vehicle being driven to a full stop:
(a) Adeline Drive approaching Alvarado Avenue;
Adeline Drive approaching Balboa Avenue;
Adeline Drive approaching Bernal Avenue;
Adeline Drive approaching Cabrillo Avenue;
Adeline Drive approaching Columbus Avenue;
Adeline Drive approaching Poppy Drive;
Adrian Court approaching Adrian Road;
Albermarle Way approaching Ray Drive;
Alturas Drive approaching Hillside Drive;
Alvarado Avenue approaching Hillside Drive, while travelling south
(northern end);
Alvarado Avenue approaching Hillside Drive, while travelling south
(southern end);
Anita Road approaching Bayswater Avenue;
Anita Road approaching Howard Avenue;
Arguello Drive approaching Sebastian Drive;
Arguello Drive approaching Toledo Avenue;

Section 3. The City Engineer is hereby directed to make the stop signs and stop
markings permanent at the six intersections as mentioned above in Section 1.
Section 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is
for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance. The Council declares that it would have adopted
the Ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof,
irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses
or phrases be declared invalid.
Section 5. The City Clerk is directed to publish this ordinance in the manner required
by law. This Ordinance shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in
accordance with California Government Code Section 36933, published, and circulated
in the City of Burlingame, and shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its final
passage.

hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance was introduced at a public hearing occurred
at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 6th day of November, 2017, and
adopted thereafter at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 20th day
November, 2017 by the following vote:
