HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1134ORDINANCE N0. 1134 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 22..46.010 OF THE BURLINGAME MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD AND CLARIFY PROVISIONS FOR THE PLACEMENT AND REMOVAL OF POLITICAH AND CAMPAIGN SIGNS The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame does ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 22.46.01.0 of the Burlingame Municipal.: Code is hereby amended to read: "7.2.46.010 Po L tical and Campaign Signs. Any such sign is a temporary sign as defined in Section 22.04.490. A permit shall be required pursuant to Section 22.06.020 for the placement of all political and campaign signs, except that no fee shall be charged therefor, no permit shall be required of a property owner who places such signs on his own property, and only one permit shall be required for each candidate or ballot measure when a person is authorized by the candidate for election,or an election committee, to place such signs. The placement of political and campaign signs shall be limited as follows; 7.. No sign shall be placed or erected on any premises within this City without the consent of the owner of said premises. Every permit applicant shall premises upon which a sign is to be placed. 2. No sign. file evidence of such consent with the City for each vacant or unoccupied prior to the premises upon which a sign is to be placed. 2. No sign. shall be placed or erected earlier than six (6) weeks prior to the election date. 3. ALL signs must be removed no later than the tenth (10th) day after the election, and in order to insure such removal, each permit applicant shall deposit the sum of 8/1/78 1 8/22/78 twenty-five dollars ($25.00), to be fully refundable if the signs are removed within the ten (10) days. Failure to remove all signs shall result in a forfeiture of said deposit to defray the City's cost of removal. 4. No political or campaign signs shall be placed oI such size or in such manner as to pose a visibility hazard to pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic along the public highway, sidewalks or at street corners. 5. No individual sign may exceed an area of sixteen square 1-6) feet; the aggregate area. of signs upon a single lot or parcel shall not exceed eighty square feet." Section 7_.
