ORDINANCE PROVIDIT_dC fOR COMPACT
CAR SPACES IN INDUSTRIAL AND
COMMERCIAL ZONES
The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame does hereby
ORDAIN as follows;
Section 1, Section 25.70.020 of the Burlingame Munici-
pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"25.70.020 Dimensions of Parking Spaces.
(a) The minimum dimensions for open parking spaces,
garages or carports, except garages and carports in single
family dwellings, shall be nine feet in width and twenty
feet in length for normal parking spaces and eight feet
in width and seventeen feet in length for compact car
spaces, with a vertical clearance of seven feet, exclusive
of access drives. The minimum inside dimensions for
garages or carports in single family dwellings shall be
ten feet in width and twenty feet in length.
(b) Required spaces in parking lots, parking areas,
garages or carports shall open directly upon an aisle or
driveway of such width and design as to provide safe and
convenient ingress and egress for the vehicle. Parking
of one car behind another. (tandem parking) will not be
considered in the computation of required parking, but
additional tandem parking spaces in excess of code re-
quirements will be permitted.
(c) Compact car spaces shall be allowed within
industrial and commercial districts in the following
ratio:

Compact car spaces shall be clearly marked 'SMALL
CAR ONLY.' Such spaces shall be distributed throughout
the parking area."
Section 2. Section 25.41.080(c) of the Burlingame
Municipal Code is hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be published as
required by law.

a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 4th day of
June 1979, and was adopted thereafter at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the Stri day of June 1979,
