ORDIIQANCE LIMITING STORAGE OP
TRAILERS, VEHICLES, BOATS AND
CAMPERS IN SETBACKS AND YARDS
OI RESIDENTIAL ZONES
The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame, does
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 25.68, limiting storage of
trailers, vehicles, boats and campers in setbacks and yards of
residential zones, is hereby added to the Burlingame Municipal
Code, to read as follows:
"CHAPTER
25.68
VEHICLE STORAGE
IN
SETBACKS
AND YARDS
25.68.010 Policy.
It is the policy of the City of Burlingame that
setbacks and side yards in residential districts of the
City should be used for open space purposes, and that
permission to store vehicles in such areas shall be
given only when exceptional or unusual circumstances
exist.
25.68.020 Storage defined.
'Storage' shall mean the stopping, standing or
parking of vehicles for more than seventy-two (72)
consecutive hours.
25.68.030 Storage in setbacks - permit required.
No person shall, without first obta.ining a permit,
store any trailer, vehicle, boat or camper shell in the
front or side setback in a residential district.
25.63.040 Storage in side yard - permit required.
No person shall, without first obtaining a permit,
store any trailer, vehicle, boat or camper shell in the
required side yard in any residential district. Permitted

storage shall maintain a minimum three (3) foot
clearance for emergency access either between the side
property line or an adjacent structure on the permittee's
property.
25.68.050 Permit application.
Any person, firm or corporation desiring such a
permit shall make
written
application to the City Planner,
setting forth facts
which
would support
the
findings for
a variance as set
forth in
Section 25.54.020.
Accompany-
ing such application
shall
be such fees
as
may be approved
from time to time
by resolution
of the
City
Council.
25.68.060 Notice.
The City Planner shall send written notice of the
application to all property owners within one hundred
(100) feet of the applicant's property. Such notice
shall state that written comments or objections regard-
ing the application will be received by him for ten (10)
days after said notice.
25.68.070 Permit - issuance - revocation.
Not less than ten (10) days after said notice, the
City Planner shall grant the application
in whole or part,
or. deny it. Any grant may be subject to such conditions
as the City Planner may determine necessary for the
health, safety and general welfare of the public. He
shall notify the applicant and all persons submitting
written comments of his decision. Any permit may be
revoked as set forth in Section 25.16.140.
25.68.080 Appeal.
Any decision of -the City Planner concerning a
permit may be appealed to the Planning Commission.

Such appeal shall be made in writing within five (5)
days after written notice of the decision of the City
Planner is sent. The City Planner shall thereafter
schedule said appeal before the Planning Commission
without further application, notice or fees, except that
the applicant and/or other appealing parties shall be
given written notice of said hearing. Subsequent pro-
ceedings shall be held pursuant to Sections 25.16.060
through 25.16.085."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be published as
required by law.

do hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced at
a regular meeting of the Burlingame City Council held on the
76th day of June 1980, and was adopted thereafter at a
regular meeting held on the day of 1980, by the
following vote:
