ORDIlIf1NCE PROVIDING FUR SIDE[n':SLK
ENCROACHMENT PERMITS AND PROHIBIT-
ING SIDE6^TALK SIGNS
The. CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame, California,
does ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Section 10.32.010 of the Burlingame Munici-
mal Code is amended to read as follows:
"10.32,0.1.0 'Sidewalk defined.
Section 2. Section 10.32.020 of said Code is amended
to read as follows:
"10.32,020 Obstruction of free passage unlawful.
It shall

poses,
including any curbing,
bulkheads, retaining
walls,

Section 3. Section 10.32,030 of said Code is amended
to read as follows:
"10.32.030 Exceptions.

lighting
fixtures or
water
hydrants erected
by permission
of
the:
City Council,
or
ornamental trees

planted along the outer line of the. sidewalk and within
the curb and larrers for the protection .of the same,
and other tress maintained by the permission of the City
Council;
2. To materials used in the construction or repair
of any building: during the existence of and subject to
the terms of any permit issued by the building inspector;
3. To receipt, delivery or removal of goods, wares
or merchandise between the hours:. of six o°clock. in the
afternoon and nine o'clock on the following morning; or
4. To merchandise displays-? ornamental plantings,
trash receptacles, privately maintained bicycle racks
or other objects Cexcluding signs of any kind) for which
an encroachment permit has been obtained pursuant to
Chapter 12._10 of this code."
Sec Cion 4, Section 22.48.030 is amended to read as
follows ;
"22.48.030 Signs on public right-of-way..
Signs, A -boards and advertising structures, placed
upon or attached to the ground on any portion of the
public street, sidewalk or right-of-way are prohibited;
provided, however, that newspaper vending devices and
temporary signs for public safety or convenience shall
be permitted. Signs exempted by Sections 22.34.020 and
22.54,040 may be erected and maintained as exceptions to
this chapter."
Section 'S, This ordinance shall be published as
required by law.
