HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 123510/25/82 11/3/82 follows: ORDINANCE N0, 1235 ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SEVER CONNECTION FEE The CITY COl1NCIL of the CITY OF BURLIPJC,AME does hereby ORDAIN as Section 1. Section 15.08.010. of the Burlingame Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 15.08.010 Application for sewer connection. Plhenever sewer laterals are to be laid and connected with the sewer mains of the City, or whenever a property is converted to a more intensive use, the person, firm or corporation desiring to lay and connect the same or change the use shall apply in writing to the City Engineer stating the location of the premises effected. Upon receipt of the application, the Cjty Engineer shall issue the necessary permits and collect such connection fees and inspection fees as may be established by Cquncil from time to time. Section 2. Section 15.08.020 is hereby added to said Code to read as follows: Section 15.08.020. Connection charge. A.ny person requesting a connection to a sewer shall, as a condition of such connection pay a charge for each separate building site based upon the fallowing schedule. I Single Family & Dunlex Multi -Family Commercial/Retail Office Warehouse Restaurant Hotel w/Restaurant Hotel without Restaurant Connection Fee $101/unit $77/unit $161/Thousand Square Feet $35/Thousand Square Feet $45/Thousand Square Feet $398/Thousand Square Feet $254/Room $157/Room The above schedule shall be adjusted to conform to the latest Engineering News Record Construction Cost Index for the Citv of San Francisco using 2500 as the base index, The above connection charges shall therefore be multiplied by the Engineering News Record Construction Cost Index for the City of San Francisco in effect on January 1, and the result divided by 2500 to obtain the true connection charge for the subsequent calendar .year. -1- The Director of Public Works shall determine the appropriate and use category for each applicant. If an appropriate category cannot be determined, a fee shall be charged on the basis of $1.10 per estimated pound of B.O.D. generated per ,year. The rate per pound shall be adjusted as set forth above for scheduled fees. Section 3. Section 15.08.110 of said Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 15.08.110 Sewer Fund. All monies received from the collection of the sewer rental charges and sewer connection fees shall be deposited with the City Treasurer who shall keep a separate and distinct fund and account to be known as "the sewer fund." This fund shall be used, when appropriated by the Council, for the management, maintenance, operation and repair of the sewage system, sewage pumping, treatment and disposal works and for the planning, extension and enlargement of the works. Section 4. Urnency. It is hereby declared that this ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, safety, health and welfare, is an emergency measure as provided by law and shall take effect upon its adoption. The facts constituting such an urgency as as follows: The City of Burlingame currently must undertake extensive improvements to it's sewer treatment facility and probably will have to do so without c:, federal or state assistance. It is therefore desirable that the funds be established so that work may be commenced as soon as possible and so that all projects contributing to the impact upon the sewage treatment Plant pay their appropriate share. Section 5. This ordinance shall be published as required by law. Mayor I, EVELYN H.
