Present Absent Mitchell Harris Brown Henderson 03 Stivers Macomber (8:30) There was a general discussion of the proposed Drive -In Motion Picture Theatre, corner Millbrae Avenue and the Southern Pacific right-of-way. It w43 the consensus that this would create a traffic situation, which matter will be brought up at the public hearing next meeting. The communication of Claude Keck was discussed, relating to a survey of the Southwesterly portion of Lot 13, Block 1, Subdivision No. 3, Burlingame Park. Mr. Kock did not appear duly 27, 1950 and he was advised under date August 4 that this would be on the agenda for this meeting. The members of the Commission were unable to determine from the communication or the map what is desired. Mr. Keck did not appear at this meeting; no action taken. The Chairman read a communication dated August 19 from Samuel D. Merk protesting the erection of small front additions to old wooden structures in the Burlingame business district. The members of the Commission indicated that they held views on the subject similar to Mr. Merk's and that this matter has been a problem to the Planning Commission and has been under study and discus- sion for some time. The Secretary was instructed to acknowledge the communica- tion and so advise Mr. Merk. The Chairman invited members of the Commission to attend the next meet- ing of the Tri-County Planning Council which will be held September 6, 1950 at 7 p.m., Rickey's. Commissioners Mitchell and Brown indicated that they plan to attend that meeting. The Chairman discussed the subject of a height limit and building set -backs " in the "Apartment" Zone and this will be discussed further with the Chief of the Fire Department with the object of working out a formula to submit to the City Council. I m The Chairman suggested that the Commission look into the subject of re- quiring elevators for multiple story buildings in the higher category. _ Also, the Chairman brought up the subject of the interpretation of set -back lines on lots with two street frontages. Other members of the Planning Commission alluded to the unsightly condition of the property in the vicinity of Broadway and the overpass where apparently livestock was being maintained, along with mixture of buildings of various types. ' All of the above items were discussed at some length with the objective of formu- lating recommendations for submission to the City Council. Z D. A. Stivers, Secretary
