FYI — REVIEW OF REQUESTED CHANGES TO A PREVIOUSLY APPROVED
DESIGN REVIEW PROJECT AT 1509 BERNAL AVENUE, ZONED R-1.
Summary: An application for Design Review for a new, two-story single family dwelling and a
detached garage at 1509 Bernal Avenue, zoned R-1, was approved on the consent calendar by
the Planning Commission on September 9, 2019 (see attached September 9, 2019 Planning
Commission Meeting Minutes). A building permit was issued in June 2020 and construction is
underway.
With this application, the applicant is requesting approval to change the proposed French door,
at the dining room, to a window and all French doors to be French sliding doors. Please refer to
the attached explanation letter, dated July 1, 2020, for additional details of the proposed
changes.
The applicant submitted the originally approved and proposed building elevations, date stamped
July 1, 2020, to show the changes to the previously approved design review project.
Other than the changes detailed in the applicant's letter and revised plans, there are no other
changes proposed to the design of the house. If the Commission feels there is a need for more
study, this item may be placed on an action calendar for a second review and/or public hearing
with direction to the applicant.
