I am in receipt of your September 5, 2014 letter (attached) requesting early demolition of the fire-
damaged building located at 1218 Donnelly Avenue, Burlingame. The bases for your request for early
demolition are your insurance carriers' determinations that the structure is a complete loss, and that
the City's Building Official has declared the building unsafe. Your request is hereby granted.
Please note that this authorization for early demolition only applies to the structure located at 1218
Donnelly Avenue and does not apply to any other structures on adjacent properties that may have
received less significant damage due to the fire on the subject property. Further, this authorization
does not grant approval to construct a new structure on the site. Any new structure to be constructed
on the propertv at 1218 Donnellv Avenue must first receive approval of anv and all entitlements
required bv Title 25 of the Burlinqame Municipal Code (Zoninq Ordinance).

Dear Mr. Meeker,
As you know, the building at 1218 Donnelly Avenue sustained serious structural darnage as a
result of a fire in late November of 2013. The building was determined to be unsafe to enter and was
"red-tagged" by City Building Official Joe Cyr.
Because the building was determined to be a total loss, the cause of the fire led to an intense
investigation by two separate insurance carriers. Those carriers have completed all of their work,
therefore, we would now like to demolish the building.
Please accept this request for an emergency demolition permit so that we may remove the
blighted and unsafe structures. We will continue to maintain a secure fence around the property and
hope to submit a plan to rebuild within the next few weeks.
