City Attorney Karmel
City Engineer Fitch
City Building Inspector Watson
The Secretary read the minutes of the last regular meeting April 28, 1949 which
were approved.
E. J. I'Ailler, 1000 Oak Grove Avenue, appeared and stated that he is the owner
of the property at the corner of Oak Grove Avenue and Linden Avenue with 115'-frontage on
Linden by 75' on Oak Grove. He expressed the belief that it would be of benefit to the
neighborhood if, in connection with the Carolan Avenue project, the North side of Oak
Grove, between Carolan and Linden, is rezoned for business. In the discussion which en-
sued the members of the Commission expressed the view that, considering the opinions of
the property owners present, it would appear to be desirable to consider rezoning this
frontage.
Frank Conti, 545 Bayshore Avenue, appeared representing Mrs. Lang, owner of the
property now occupied by the store, desiring to speak in favor of rezoning the block. He
was under the impression that the matter was to come up for a hearing at this meeting of
the Planning Commission. The Chairman informed these property owners that this is the
first the Commission has. heard of this proposition since the recent revival of the
Carolan Avenue extension project and no formal action was taken at this meeting. City
Attorney Karmel reported to the Commission for its information that the Lang property is
being purchased by the city for the sum of $19,000 with the understanding that the
present buildings may remain to April 1, 1950 and that in due time a regular procedure may
be instituted to rezone the block referred to.
The Chairman read a letter from the Burlingame Village Improvement Club dated
May 14, 1949 as follows:
