Burlingame, California
Gentlemen:
For man,y ears the second .floor of ou.r building located 121L,,
Burliname Avenue was occupied as apa.rtments. r1rchitectural plans,
still in our possession, indicate that apartments were actually
designed ahen the building was erected.
In 1°56, ti^lilliam J. 0'Connell, remodeled two apartments into
.n office occupa.ncy for the purpose of conducting his business as
, consulting engineer. PIr. 0'Connell passed away in December, 1966.
Since that date, ae have endeavored to rent the space as offices.
Aclvertisements were placed in the Daily Pa.cific Builder and. Realtor
specialists were invited to assist in the rental. The newspaper ads
and the Realtors Urere and are offe'ing no encouragement for use of the
premises as offices. The area consists o.f about 1250 square feet and
has two private bathraoms and kitchen area.
Because of the lack of prospective tenants in the past /:.- ,years,
it has become increasingly burdensome to realize an income from the
second floor.
As apartment occupancy would not be inconsistent ,,rith other
roperties in the area, may I respectfully request that your Commission
consider our plight and assist us in Ly permitting us to renovate the
secnd floor area into the original occupancy as apartments.
