Present Absent Mitchell Brown Harris Coles Macomber Stivers CITY PLANNING COMMISSION Burlingame, California Regular Meeting June 30, 1949, 8 p.m• Others Present Mayor Love City Attorney Karmel City Engineer Fitch Chairman Mitchell asked City Engineer Fitch regarding the status of the plans for widening Chapin Avenue, and Mr. Fitch reported that he has plans in his office on which he expects to make a report to the City Council at an early date. In connection with the development of the Broadway industrial area, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution that a recommendation be sent to the City Council that consideration be given to the creation of a new street to extend from Broadway to Whitehorn Way, the details to be worked out by the City Engineer to include proper parking space or loading zones to be provided with the object of creating a second road as means of ingress and egress to the industrial area. Commissioner Harris addressed the meeting on the desirability of beautifica- tion or park screening of the industrial area, which is located at a principal entrance to the city, and all of the commissioners indicated a desire to find a way to get some- thing accomplished along this line. Chairman Mitchell suggested to Mayor Love that con- sideration be given to the possibility of developing a recreation area on the city land along Bayshore Boulevard. City Engineer Fitch presented plans for the Burlingame Village playground which, after suggesting a few minor changes, were unanimously approved. Chairman Mitchell read a letter of resignation from Commissioner Harrison Coles and the members unanimously expressed appreciation for the valuable services ren- dered by Mr. Coles during his membership on the Planning Commission, and Mr. Mitchell stated that he would write a letter to this effect to Mr. Coles.
