Additions or Modifications to Structures in the Hi//side Area
Dear Property Owner,
The Burlingame Planning Department has received an application for a Hillside Area
Construction Permit for the following address.

APPLICATION FOR A HILLSIDE AREA CONSTRUCTION PERMIT TO EXTEND
A SECOND FLOOR BEDROOM AND TO ADD A FIRST FLOOR FAMILY ROOM
AND DECK ADDITION TO A SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE, ZONED R-1.
Your property is located within 100 feet of this property. The review criteria for a
Hillside Area Construction Permit includes blockage of distant views from neighboring
properties. Any noticed property owner may request review of this application if they
feel that existing distant views will be blocked by the proposed construction. If you
would like to request that this project be called up for review, which includes a public
hearing, you should submit a written request to the City Planner within seven days
from the postmark of this letter. Unless review of the application is requested the
Hillside Area Construction Permit shall be approved.
On November 5, 1991, the City Council passed Ordinance 1447, which established
a public review procedure for additions or modifications to structures in designated
hillside areas. The intent of this ordinance is to allow neighbors, the Planning
Commission, and City Counci/ an opportunity to review all construction in the hillside
area which could affect existing distant views from inside structures on nearby
properties (Burlingame Municipa/ Code Section 25.61).
A copy of the site plan, floor plans and building elevations are enclosed for your
review. If you wish to call this item up for review, please contact the Planning
Department in writing by 5:00 P.M. within seven (7) days of the post mark on this
letter. Please call 342-8625 if you have any questions regarding this proposal or
would like to see the full size plans.
