The following sere present: Commissioners Present: Brown Macomber Shattuck Stivers Absent: Coles Mitchell Councilmen Present: Simonds Hunt Harris Whitsell Dahl Absent: None Others Present City Attorney Karmel City Clerk White City Engineer Fitch Mayor Simonds stated that the Council desired to .review with the Planning Commission the disapproval of the proposed resubdivision in order to bring out any facts which might have been overlooked because the Council has received a communication from Mrs. Roussey in effect seeking reconsideration. The Secretary of the Planning Commission reported that at the Regular Meeting November 20 there was held a full hearing of the matter when Mrs. Roussey was represented by Attorney Luther Carr and neighboring property owners appeared to protest and none to approve. At that meeting on roll call the commissioners voted "No" 5 and "Yes" 1. At this meeting with the Council, CommissionE Brown spoke in favor of approving the resubdivision on the ground that the resubdivided lots as proposed would each contain an area in excess of 5,000 square feet and he saw no harm in permitting three residences to be constructed thereon instead of two as planned in the original subdivision which was made many years ago. The other commissioners present stated that, after full consideration, they did not approve of resubdivisions of this character in a developed first -residential area, and especially so when neighboring property owners appeared to protest and. none in favor. Mayor Simonds in conclusion indi- cated that the matter will receive formal action by the Council at a later date. At this meeting, following the above discussion, Mayor Simonds also brought up the communication December 19, 1947 from the Burlingame Planning Commission to the City Council relative to the offer of White & Pollard to sell 100 acres of tideland to the city at a price of $250 per acre. In the discussion which ensued it was remembered that the Planning Commission had not recommended the purchase but believed that the subject wa; worthy of serious consideration to determine what would be the cost to the city and the possible use of the area in connection with the other tidelands already ovied by the City for long-range development. It was the consensus of those present that the matter is worthy of full consideration. Dr. Macomber spoke of the possibility of the development of additional apartment area when land is filled, combined with park and recreational facili- ties, including if feasible a yacht harbor. No definite action was taken at this meeting. D. A. Stivers, Secretary.
