Re: 1462 Burlingame Avenue - Application for FYI
Dear Mr. Inaba,
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Planning Division
PH: (650) 558-7250
FAX: (650) 696-3790
At the October 26 and November 9, 2009 Planning Commission meetings, the Commission
reviewed required changes to a previously approved Commercial Design Review project at
1462 Burlingame Avenue, zoned C-1, Subrea A, Burlingame Avenue Commercial Area. The
revisions included retaining the existing recessed entry, installing a black out film (with a
repeating wine bottle opaque etched graphic) in the area 44 inches above the sidewalk and
retaining clear glass for the display windows in the area above 44 inches above the sidewalk,
and extending the awnings to the outer edges of the windows.
The Planning Commission acknowledged receiving the request and noted that the revisions
were consistent with the design previously approved.
The approved revisions shall meet all the requirements of the California Building Code and
California Fire Code, 2007 edition, as amended by the City of Burlingame.
Sincerely yours,
__ -

XI. DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Commission Communications:
■ None.
Actions from Regular City Council meeting of October 19, 2009:
■ The public hearing on the appeal of 349 Lexington Way was continued to November 2, 2009 at the
request of the appellant (property owner).
---j FYI: 1462 Burlingame Avenue — review of required changes to a previously approved
Commercial Design Review project:
■ Accepted, but requested an amended FYI clarifying the design of the "black-ouY' material to be
installed on the lower portion of the windows.
Miscellaneous Comments:
• Questioned the signage for the Hilton hotel; will a similar sized sign be placed on the side of the
building like the Sheraton? (Brooks — staff has been working with the owner regarding signage,
but nothing has been finalized yet.) Asked that noticing to the affected neighborhood
(Burlingables) be provided if an item appears before the Commission.
■ Asked when the Commission will discuss the historic property issue? (Meeker — a discussion
will occur before the Planning Commission on November 9, 2009.)
• Asked when will subcommittee discussions be scheduled? (Meeker — indicated that the
Chairman still needs to prioritize which matters should be agendized for discussion.)
XII. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Terrones adjourned the meeting at 8:48 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandra Yie, Secretary
