M (L . cr; �'• MEMORANDUM �� (i:,.iii'::l( : <,�i'iiI/,'iN November 2, 2009 Director's Report Planning Commission Meeting Date: November 9, 2009 Ruben Hurin, Senior Planner SUBJECT: FYI — REVIEW OF REQUIRED CHANGES TO A PREVIOUSLY APPROVED COMMERCIAL DESIGN REVIEW PROJECT AT 1462 BURLINGAME AVENUE, ZONED C-1, BURLINGAME AVENUE COMMERCIAL AREA, SUBAREA A Summary: On October 26, 2009, the Planning Commission reviewed an application for FYI for changes to the front fa�ade of an existing commercial building at 1462 Burlingame Avenue, Zoned C-1, Subarea A, Burlingame Avenue Commercial Area (October 26, 2009 Planning Commission Minutes). The changes were requested by the Commission and included retaining the existing recessed entry, retaining clear glass for the display windows in the area above 44 inches above the sidewalk and extending the awnings to the outer edges of the windows. The Commission accepted the changes, but asked the applicant to clarify the design of the black out material to be installed on the lower portion of the window. The architect submitted a letter and revised plans, date stamped October 29, 2009, in response to the Planning Commissions' request. The architect is proposing a repeating wine bottle opaque etched graphic on the black out film (see building elevations and details, sheet A4.1). If the Commission feels there is a need for more study, this item may be placed on an action calendar for a second review and/or public hearing with direction to the applicant.
