fiberglass. No sandwiched moisture barriers allowed
between layers. As an alternate to rigid insul; fiberglass

concealed spaces with insulation shall have a 2" clear space
at the top for ventilation. All blocking shall have 3-2"
diam. holes for ventilation in these spaces. Ventilation
which is blocked by skylights may be ventilated to the
adjoining rafters as per ventilation through blocking.

SHOWER RECEPTOR
Shail be of cultured marble, marble, or.ceramic tile
set in mortar bed slope�i to drain. Shower pan shall
be of copper. System installed shall protect adjacent
materials from moisture.
SHOWER AND BA7HTUB ENCLOSURES
Shower and bathtub enclosures shall canform to Section 510 (a)
af the 1988 U.B,C. �
Accessories such as grab bars, towel bars, paper dispensers and
soap dishes, etc. provided on or within walls, shall be installed
and sealed to protect structural elements from moisture. Showers
shall be finished as specified above to a height of not less than
70 inches above the drain inlet. Materials other than structural
elements used in such walls shall be of a type which is not adversly
affected by moisture.
DOORS AND PANELS QF SHOWERS
Shall be fully tempered glass of not less than 1/8" thickness set
in anodized aluminum frames. �hower shall have an outward swinging
door with a minimum width of 24".

Where wood f rame walls and partitions are covered on the interior
�with plaster, tile or similar materials and are subject to water

Walls of enclosed bathtubs arid showers shall be protected with �
water resistant gypsum board or cement board. Install as per
manufacturers specs and recommendations.
EXHAUST FANS
Exhaust fans at bathrooms shall connect directly to the outside and
must provide 5 air changes per hour minimum. Provide back draft dampers.
Section 2105(a) of current U.B.C. Contractor shall submitt ICBO number,
manufacturer and model number ta the city building department prior to
installation.

Bef,nre submitting a proposai for this work the bidder shall visit the site
and inform himself as to the conr�itions existing under which he will be a6liged
to work. He shall examine the pJans and specifications and base his bid upon
Str1Ct adherence to them. During construction no changes from plans and spec-.
ifications shall be made without written consent of the Owner. Structural changes
must be approved by this office.
The C�ntractor shall obtain and pay for all permits and licenses and shall
give all notices. All laws, ordinances, rules and regulations bearing on the
conduct af the work drawn anci specified shall be c�mplied with in every respect
and the Contractor will be held responsible for any violations of same. Should
any conflict occur between said drawings and specifications and ordinances,
same shall be immediately referred to this office in writing.
Contractors for this work sha11 be licensed by the State of California.

conditions of the original Contract Documents.
The Owrer shall not be liable or responsible for any accident, loss, injury
or damages, happening or accruing during the term of the perfor�ance of the work
and in connection therewith, to persons and/or property. The Contractor shall
have in full force and effect, during the life of this Contract, full coverage
Workmen's Compensation Insurance, which shall comply with California laws and
limits, and shall furnish the O�ri�ner with a certiffcate statin that such insurance

will not be cancelled or changed during the term of this Contract witfiout
noticP being given to the Owner, and shall require all intermediate and sub-
contractors to take out and maintain similar policies of insurance. R11 such
policies shall be with insurance companies acceptable to the Owner.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Owner will take out and carry a
comprehensive insurance policy including fire, extended coverage, vandailism and
malicious mischief, protecting both his interest and that of the Cor�tractor.
The Contractor shall, at all times, keep the premises and streets free from
accumulations of waste and rubbish caused by his employees or work, and at com-
pletion he shall remove all rubbish, surplus materials and equipment and shall
lveave his work "broom clean"
In addition to guarantees called for �fi.sewhere in these specifications, the
Conti,actor shall guarantee ali o� his work for a period of one (1) yPar after
notice of completion is filed, against defective materials or faulty workmanship,
that is discovered and reported to him within that period.
Sales tax shall be paid by the Contractor and included in the bid.
In general the drawings will indicate dimensions, position, and kind of
constr�ction, and the specifications, qualities and methods. Any work indicated
on the drawings, and not mentioned in the specifications, or vice versa, sf�all
be furnished as though fully set forth in both. Work not particularily detailed
mar�ked or specified, shall be the same as similar parts that are detailed, marked
or specified. The larger the scale of the drawir�g, the more precedent: i:e.,
3 inch per foot scale governs 1/4 inch per foot scale.
