Present Brow Mitchell Shattuck Stivers Absent CITY PLANNING COMMISSION Burlingame, California Regular Meeting July 29, 1948 - 8:20 p.m. Others Present Coles Mayor Simonds Macomber Councilman Dahl " Harper " Love Fire Chief Leis City Attorney Karmel City Clerk White City Engineer Fitch City Building Inspector Watson Mr. and Mrs. Nick Wagner presented plans for the proposed alteration of a house at 1309 Bayswater Avenue to accommodate their beauty parlor business now located at 277 Primrose Road. After consideration Commissioner Mitchell made a md�ion seconded by Commissioner Shattuck that permit be granted provided the bathroom is eliminated. This was unanimously approved. Vice Chairman Brown read the following communication dated July 14, 1948 from the Board of Fire Commissioner: "At'the special meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners held July 13, 1948, it was decided to ask the Council to amend the present ordinance, changing from Fire Zone #2 to Fire Zone #3, the property owned by the City of Burlingame, adjacent to the California Drive Fire Station, in order that a Drill Tower of frame construction might be erected." After discussion Commissioner Mitchell made a motion seconded by Commissioner Shattuck that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that the property on which the proposed fire tower is to be constructed should be rezonedfrom Fire Zone 2 to Fire Zone 3. Recreation Commissioner McKeon and Architect Oscar Thayer presented plans for proposed construction of swimming pool and recreation building with auditorium in Washington Park. After considerable discussion it was agreed that this matter should be tabled until the members of the Planning Commission could have opportunity to inspect the plans on the ground and it was agreed that this would be done at the earliest opportunity which was set for 5p.m. next Saturday afternoon. A map was submitted showing proposed street relocation in Block 5, Burlingame Manor. City Engineer Fitch was present and stated that he approved this proposed realign- ment of LaMesa Drive. In the discussion it was brought out that this will affect Lots 21 and 22, Block 5 and that it would be necessary to work out a resubdivision of these lots, to be presented in regular manner. City Building Inspector Matson presented plans for construction of duplex on Lot 1, Block 2, Burlingame Shore Land Co., Subdivision No. 1 at Bayshore and Francisco Drive. Owner S. G. L. Johnson. Approved. City Building Inspector Matson presented plans for construction of concrete block building, 50 x 114, on Rollins Avenue, approximately 150' West of Whitethorn Way. Industrial Realty Co. Approved. Meeting adjourned 9:55 p.m.
