Dear Mr. Sui,
Your request for a hillside area construction and minor modification permit was reviewed by property owners
within 100', the Planning Commission and City Council. Since there was no appeal, a hillside area construction
permit and minor modification permit to extend an existing first floor wall with a 5'-0" side setback for a first
floor addition at 2629 Trousdale Drive, zoned R-1, was approved effective September 1, 2000, with the
following findings:
exceptional circumstances on this property are that the original house was built closer to the side property
line with 5'-0" side setback which does not meet current code requirement;
2. that the proposed addition with a 5'-0" side setback represents no greater an impact on the adjacent
property than the existing side setback (5'-0");
3. that the first floor addition is at the rear of the house, will not extend above the existing roof ridge and
will not be visible from the street, and is therefore compatible with the aesthetics, mass, bulk and
character of existing and potential uses of properties in the general vicinity;
4. that the proposed addition complies with lot coverage, floor area ratio, height and all other current
development requirements; and
5. that the proposed extension meets all other zoning code requirements and will meet the requirements of
the California Building and Fire Codes, 1998 Edition as amended by the City of Burlingame, and
therefore will not be detrimental to public health, safety or welfare.

All site improvements and construction work will require separate application to the Building Department. This
approval is valid for one year during which time a building permit must be issued. One extension of up to one
year may be considered by the Planning Commission if application is made before the end of the first year.
Sincerely yours,
