HomeMy WebLinkAbout1510 Cypress Avenue - Staff Report I v May 11; 1977 MEPO T0: Ci ty Counci 1 FROM: SUBJECT: City Planner Appeal by Naomi P. Azzaria The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing April 25 on the application for a special permit•to use the detached cottage at the rear of 1510 Cypress Avenue for sleeping quarters for the tvo sons of Naomi P. Azzaria. The Commission motion to deny this special permit receive:.i a vote of 4-2 (Commissioners Kindig and Taylor dissenting; Commissioner Cistull; was absent). Transmitted for your information is a xerox copy of the information provided to the Planning Commission: Special Permit Application, March 25 letter from Naomi P. Azzaria and Helen Magee to the Planning Commission, and a location diagram of 1510 Cypress. I have also attached a copy of the letter from Mrs. Robert Gotelli of 1500 Cypress Avenue, the April 27 letter of appeal from Mrs. Azzaria and the Planning Commission meeting minuts. Minut'es of the Apri1 25 meeting show that 12 people spoke in opposition. Ther,e were tnany allegations; fe focused on the subject of the application. In additior eleven people signed their names in opposition to this special permit. Subsequent to the Commission hearing five letters of support have been received. The minutes show the rumpus room as built with no record of a building permit. Adolfo Lopez, a realtor living at 1525 Cypress, had requested a special permit in December, 1975 for a family room vith storare in a 12X24' accessory building. That application 1^JdS denied by the Commission, appealed to the Council and Council upheld the Commission decision on January 19, 1976. Since his S.P. was denied he opposed this S.P. Three of the objections presented at the meting concerned the swimming pool, the mobile home in the rear yard and vehicles parked on the street. Since the fearing three changes have occurred. Mrs. Azzaria will report on the present condition of the pool. She advised me that the trailer has been removed from tfe proper•ty and books that had been stored in part of the garage have also been removed so tha: one car is being parked in the garage. Guring the past two weeks I have noticed that vehicles have been parked on the driveway and not in the street. WMS/s Attachments ! d • Wayne M.
