Building Inspector Watson
There was presented application of C. F. Schuetz, Jr. for approval of a plan for
an apartment building to be constructed on Lot 4, Block 8, Burlingame Gardens Subdivision,
to contain three apartments. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner
Macomber, it was unanimously voted to approve the plan.
Lewis A. Nelson of Nelson & Shirkey Planing Mill appeared in behalf of his appli-
cation for variance of the zone affecting Lots 4B and 5A, Block 17, Lyon & Hoag Subdivision.
A Mr. Badeaux and a Mrs. Pohl, neighbors, appeareVaat first indicated they might have ob-
jection to the granting of a variance, but in the discussion of the subject, they assured
the Planning Commission that if they had any objection it was withdrawn and that they vlould
be satisfied to see the variance granted. The Commission stated that they desired only to
hear the petition on its merits, realizing that the location is one on which a planing mill
already is established and where the owners have kept that property in a neat and attractive
manner. Also, there are nearby numerous residential properties which are well kept up. In
the discussion Mr. Nelson indicates that he was aware of the presence of residential
property in the neighborhood and he assured the Commission and the neighbors that it is his
intention and he promises to use the property in a manner which will not be objectionable to
the neighbors and that he will construct an ornamental fence or hedge and do the necessary
amount of work to continue the attractive appearance of the neighborhood. On a motion made
and duly seconded, it was unanimously voted to recommend the variance.
Following the above hearing there was some general discussion relating to possible
development of the Bay Shore section of Burlingame, and Dr. Macomber presented a plat or
drawing indicating proposed plans for a recreational area and a yacht harbor. This subject
will be brought up again at a later date.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:30.Q.11%,'
