HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - PC - 1944.09.28Minuets of the Meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame, Held at the City Hall in the City of Burlingame, September 28th., 1944. Present at said Meeting; Commissioners Mitchell, Rapp, Coles, Brown and Macomber, a quorum. Absent at said Meeting; Commissioner and Secretary Stivers. An aplication for a permit to erect a storage shed and small office building for the storage of building material was received from Charles Schueltz, the shed or small warehouse to be erected on Lots 4 and 5 Burlingame Gardens. A Commitee from Burlingame Gardens sere present at said Meeting and stmongly protested the issuance of a . ,, , +, `.c stating it would ruin a home district, and the residants not understanding that these and other lots on the Bayshore Blvd., were classed in the light Industrial Zone. At the suggestion of Mayor Peter Dahl, who was present at said Meeting, the Commitee were informed that a petition to change the zoneing along Bayshore Blvd. in the Blocks 8 and * in the Burlingame Gardens Tract would be entertained by the City Council at their next Meeting. The matter of the permit to Schueltz was laid over pending action of the City Council. A request from John Dore' to enclose a concrete platform on his property in the acerage district off Broadway East of California Drive; the purpose of the enclosure was to be used for the storage of Hay and feeds. Considerable argitment resulted by Dore' and the Commissioners as to the safety from fire and other hazards as the building would be onl$ ten feet distant from occupied apartments on this property. The request was finally left for a report from the Building Inspector and the Fire Chief of the City. Petition of Harry Lee for the erection of a shop building and an open shed for the parking of autos was granted, the location of Lee's prop-erty being next to the Corporation Yard of the City. It was fully understood that the rear of the auto shed was to be planted to trees to screen the view from the railroad trains. Landscaping to be finished within thirty days after erection of all buildings. Chairman Mitchell was appoimted a Commitee of one to consult with the Recreation Commission on matters relative to playgrounds.
