I_have been a resident of the City of Burlingame for 82 years. My brother and I have operated the Custom Office Supply Company in San Bruno for about 7 years. We have between. 50 and 75 clients to whom we.supply ofi'ice supplies and printing, 3ncluding Thunderbolt Hotel, United States Government, etc., in the east Millsdale and Burlingame area. Our application for Cowan Road will not be for a stationery store in. the ordinary sense of the word. We w311 not have display windows nor will we se11 items such as greeting cards--only ot'fice supplies and printing. Our printing wi11 be almost entirely of that type known as "Tnstant Printing", the same as Goodway did in the exact location, as shown in the.attached photo�raph. Also, Bell & Howe11, who are located in the same building have Xerox Copies, as shown by signs in their winclow which we observed. In as much as they were given Use Permits we would imagine that you will be receptive to our application. We w�.iZ want a sign, meeting all of your requirements, similar to the Goodw�,y sign shown in the enclosed snapshot. We would also like to paint on the plaster facade above the front door the words� "Office Supplies--Printing". Mr. Mann explained to us that it is your desire to keep� the area in light industrial, warehousing and of#'ices, not in retail stores, and we assure you that our place of business will not be a retail store in the ordinary sen.se of the word. It is our desire mostly to have it as sort of a stockroom for serving of our accoun.ts in that area. Some of the businesses in. tha-t area may drop in irom time to time to pick up an emergency item but probably over 90°fo oi our business will be orders over �he telephone and charge accounts--not cash. Mostly we will del3ver, but occasionally we wi11 probably have "Will Cal1 Telephon.e Orders". We can't imagine get�ting any customers from an.y area other than the i.mmediate area. TnTe understand that you have given some so-called retail permits in the area (such as.the restaurant in the same building) when it is for the purpose of servicing tenants and employees oi the area, and that is the purpose of our pxoposed branch.
