At the December 9, 2013 Planning Commission meeting, the Commission reviewed the
requested changes to a previously approved design review project at 122 Stanley Road, zoned
R-1. The FYI application included the following changes: the stone veneer wainscoting was
brought down to adjacent grade, the French doors at the front elevation were replaced with
windows, a trellis was added over the sliding doors at the rear elevation and the proposed
dimensions of corbels and trim members were called out on the plans. All of these changes
were requested by the Planning Commission at the Regular Action Meeting and were included
in the plans date stamped December 2, 2013.
The Planning Commission acknowledged receiving the changes and noted that they were
consistent with the design previously approved.
The approved design shall meet all the requirements of the California Building Code and
California Fire Code, 2010 edition, as amended by the City of Burlingame.
Sincerely
Erica Strohmeier

DATE: December 4, 2013 Director's Report
TO: Planning Commission Meeting Date: December 9, 2013
FROM: Erica Strohmeier. Associate Planner
SUBJECT: FYI — REVIEW OF REQUESTED CHANGES TO A PREVIOUSLY APPROVED
DESIGN REVIEW PROJECT AT 122 STANLEY ROAD, ZONED R-1.
Summary: An application for Design Review for a new, two-story single family dwelling and
detached garage at 122 Stanley Road, zoned R-1, was approved by the Planning Commission
on November 12, 2013 (see attached November 12, 2013 Planning Commission Meeting
Minutes). A building permit has not yet been issued.
At the November 12, 2013 Planning Commission meeting, there was discussion regarding the
stone veneer wainscoting, the French doors at the front elevation, the need for additional relief
at the rear elevation and the proposed dimensions of the corbels and trim members. The
Commission added Condition of Approval #2, which requires that the applicant submit an FYI to
address these remaining issues.
The designer submitted a letter date stamped November 26, 2013, as well as the originally
approved and proposed Site Plan, Main Level Floor Plan and Building Elevations, date stamped
December 2, 2013, to address Condition of Approval #2. In summary, the stone veneer
wainscoting was brought down to adjacent grade, the French doors at the front elevation were
replaced with windows, a trellis was added over the sliding doors at the rear elevation and the
proposed dimensions of corbels and trim members were called out on the plans.
Other than the requested changes detailed in the designer's letter, there are no other changes
proposed to the building facade. If the Commission feels there is a need for more study, this
item may be placed on an action calendar for a second review and/or public hearing with
direction to the applicant.
