The February stated meeting of the planning
Commission was held on Thursday evening, Feb-
ruary 23, 1939, t 8 : QO .r l . , in the City hall,
Burlingame. das. H. Mitchell was in.the chair;.
other members present were: A. J . Rapp, Dr: I.T. i.
Macomber, G. W. �;oleman, .lames r`atsoh and :has
Macdonald; absent were :.-i. J . Ward, Uiss l.ot a rs , ar
C. L. Longson and John .i'. Davis.
A petition to rezone lots 3 and 4, in block 5,
Easton addition from :apartment house to business
was received frog. ,..r. Carl .inderson representing
..r. i elzel, Owner of lot 3, and Ivir. BAyce Mu:�r,
Owner of lot 4, both racing on apuchino _venue,
near iroadway.
Vigorous objections to the petition were made by
lembers of the Broadway --evelopment ..ssociation
on the ground that to further extend the business
Area would only hinder the development of the
unimproved property on Broadway proper and now
remaining vacant; and that there is plenty of
-business property available on Broadway that should
be improved to take care of present need;. also
that apuchino _.venue is too narrow for mousiness use
and would make Auto':$.raff'ic more congested than at
present if Business i`uildings w :re perni 'vt3d.
iessrs. Levy, Parks, 2radbury, uliphant and Pryor,
were among those objecting to the petition.
ar. Anderson i , speaki_�g for the petitioners claimed
that only one of the lots would be built'on,the
other to be'used for 1,arking which would tend to
lessen the traffic on Broadway by using Capuchino.
Action was deferred pending further study by the
,ommission, but that a public hearing would be held
on ..arch 30, 1939.
A request to rezone for business use of a lot on
Howard <vcnue, 0,,posits Washineton school to enlarge
a store was denied.
Mrs b'leming asked permission to subdivide at
Carolyn Drive and �l Camino into two portions which
was approved; r_etitioner to first conf,�r with Longson.

A requ.st by idrs Emma Robertson to re .one a lot
on 11;dgehill Drive to permit a Duplex ceas denied.
It was agreed that the commission would hold.a
closed meeting to study proposed development on
Capuchino Avenue in the nearr future.
