Stated meeting of the Gommission of the litf of
Burlingame wvs held in the 3ouncil Room; City Hall,
Burlingame, of Thursday evening, January 27, 1938.
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 . M. J H.
Mitchell presiding.
The members present were J H. Mitchell, G. W.
Coleman, V. J. Rapp, yr. H. We Macomber, C. L.
Longson, Jas. Watson, and 0. Macdonald. Members
absent were Mayor W. W. Hiv .s, City _attorney Davis,
and Miss Janet P. Rogers. X .A r A -

Mr. J. C. Whitaker applied for permission to re-
arrange lots il and A block 3 Villa Park, so that
same would face on Linden Avenue instaad of Park
Avenue an at present, and to have an area of over
5000 square feet each. Sarre was approved with the
understanding that a map showing the subdivision he
filed with the City Engineer.
Request from R. I. Gately, 117 Cresent _Ivenue to
build a play room on the too of his garage was
approved.
Mr. G. T. Remmers submitted a tentative playa for
raising a building locatd at Howard and Lorton
Avenues and to ernot a store underneath. This
property being in the Commeriosl zone, Mr. Remmers
was advised that before a--p4tmit could be given
the old building plan shcald show same to be made
fire proof to comply with the fire ordinance as
well as the now stores underneath.
A communication was read from Mr. oarl W. Anderson
representing MrE. Cecelia L. Pinkham, calling
attention to the fact that Mrs Pinkham's application
to rezone her property at 308 El Camino Real to
business had been filed with the Planning Commission
September 25, 1937, and that a public hearing; was
held on October 14, 1937; that no opposition hod
developed, .and that no conclusion had been:reachdd
so far, asked that a deoisica be mad3 forthwith.

Mr. Anderson was advised by the Chairman that the
application was under consideration in c6njunction
with other projects of a similar nature pending a
general study of the zoning ordsnance now being
considered.
Mr. Anderson, however, insisted upon immediate action
intimating that if the application was denied it
might be necessary to take the matter fo court for
final decision.
A motion made by G. W. Coleman, seconded by A. J.
Rapp, that the application be tentatively denied was
carried, final hearing to be held on Thursday even-
ing, Feburary 3, 1938, at 7:30 P. M.
Mr. J. 0. Bowman, one of the signers to the petition
asking that Chapin Manua be rezoned for Commerical
use .agreed to ask the other owners of property on
Chapin Avenue to be on hand at thb meeting on Feb-
urary 3, when the qu stion of widening the .Avenue
will also be discussed.fully.
There being no further business the meeting was
adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
