H. Mitchell, H4 P. Vollmer, idiss Rogers, Geo. Uoleman, J. F. Davis, C. L. Longson, Jas. Watson, and C. Macdonald. The question of zoning to apartments property facing on Burlingame Avenue from El Camino Real to Occidental Avenue, and scheduled for public hearing, was brought up for dis- cussion. notice of the meeting was mailed to the property owners in the neighborhood. The Chairman asked for an expression of opinion -either for or against the proposed change in classification. Mr. Chas M. Hackmeier, 148 Llm Avenue, in responding, stated that he was in favor of zoning not only the lots fronting on Burlingame Avenue, but also lots including part of Chapin and uecidental Avenues (both sides) to Ralston Avenue,,,and thence to El Camino Real; as there is very little vacant property. Those wishing to turn their houses into apartments should be at liberty to do so in order to meet the demand for apartment houses; and thereby increase the population, and at the same time help to keap taxes down. zir. Dauterman, 1205 noward Avenue, spoke on similar lines, so did mr. Harry Kegan, who resides on uecidental Avenue. He could see no objections to having an apartment house next door to him. mr. rsusey, who resides on occidental Avenue, said that he was opposed to apartment houses in that particular vicinity, that it was purely a residential district. Dr. Lorenz stated that he had recently; built a home in the neighbor- hood with the understanding that it was to remain as a residential zone, and that he was utterly agq.inst the en- croachment of apartment houses; there b3ing,.in his opinion, more property zoned for apartments than was necessary for the time being.
