RESOLUTION ENDORSING MEASURE A - MOSQUITO ABATEMENT
DISTRICT ACT SPECIAL TAX
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame that:
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Mosquito Abatement District has
established a commendable record of effective mosquito control and prudent
fiscal management, and,
WHEREAS, the District has protected the public health and well
being of the residents of the City of Burlingame through control of pest and
vector mosquitoes, and
WHEREAS, a 35% loss in revenue and a 30% reduction in personnel
has severely effected the Districts ability to adequately control mosquitoes,
and
WHEREAS, mosquitoes, in addition to being severe nuisances, are
capable of transmitting such serious diseases as Encephalitis, Malaria, and
Canine Heartworm to man and domestic animals, and
WHEREAS, The District has placed a special tax measure on the
November 2, 1982 ballot, asking for an increase not to exceed $3.75 per year
per parcel of real property,
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Burlingame
hereby urges the citizens to vote YES on Measure A to restore vital mosquito
control for the public health and well being of all residents in Burlingame.

certify that the foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 20th day of September, 1982 and was adopted
thereafter by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Barton-Crosby-Mangini-Martin
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Amstrup
