Any pool or spa heating equipment must be installed with at least 36 inches of pipe between the filter and the heater, or dedicated suction and return lines, or built-in or built-up connections to allow for future solar heating. § 110.4(b)2. Covers. Outdoor pools or spas that have a heat pump or gas heater must have a cover. § 110.4(b)3 Directional inlets and time switches for pools.
