1. Two Variances to add a bedroom and bath over the existing
garage at 707 Walnut Avenue (APN 028-142-090), zoned R-1, by
Tony Garisto (applicant and property owner):
A. to cantilever the addition 2'-10" into the minimum
15' front setback area.
B. to cantilever the addition 2'-7" into the minimum
15' rear yard area.
2. Five Variances to allow a two-story garage/bedroom addition
at 2117 Carmelita Avenue (APN 027-362-140), zoned R-1, by
Nancy Brock and Donna Wright (applicants and property
owners):
A. to cantilever a 2nd floor bay window 6" into the minimum
15' front setback.
B. to construct the addition 3'-6" from the side lot line;
6' required.
C. to build to within 2'-9" of the rear property line;
15' rear yard required.
D. to exceed 40% lot coverage; 43.3% proposed.
E. the proposed width of the garage, inside dimensions, is
19'-3" (considering 6" walls); 20' minimum is required.
3. Special Permit to allow a private school (grades K-8) in a
2,074 SF portion of the Roosevelt School facilities at
1151 Vancouver Avenue (APN 027-340-150), zoned R-1, by Larry
Krusemark (applicant) with Burlingame Elementary School
District (property owner).
4. Condominium Permit to construct 11 units at 1221 Oak Grove
Avenue (APN 029-131-110), zoned R-3, by Tyrone Construction
Co. (applicant and property owner).

5. Tentative Condominium Map for 11 units at 1221 Oak Grove
Avenue (Lot 1, Block 6, Burlingame Land Company No. 2), by

6. Special Permit for an 80 SF penthouse extension at 10
Guittard Road which extends an existing roof line which
exceeds 35' in height (APN 025-166-200), zoned M-1, by
Guittard Chocolate Co. (applicant and property owner).
7. Variance to expand candy manufacturing into a previously
unfinished second floor area at 1170 Broadway without
providing additional on -site parking (APN 026-093-080),
zoned C-1, by Stephen Kircher for Preston's Candies & Ice
Cream (applicant) with Alice DuCasse (property owner).
8. Special Permit to allow an art school and studio at 1530
Gilbreth Road which is zoned M-1 (APN 026-321-490), by Geri

owner).
9. Parcel Map for the resubdivision of Lots 2 and 3, Block 6,
Anza Airport Park No. 6 and a portion of the Lands of the

VI. ITEMS FOR STUDY
10. Variance to allow an existing home at 315 E1 Camino Real to
be remodeled to four apartments and use the existing 10'-6"
wide driveway (12' minimum required) along a portion of the
structure (APN 028-283-180), zoned R-3, by Joe Zajc
(applicant and property owner).
11. Variance to create a separate parcel for an existing office
building at 1011 Cadillac Way which provides only 10 of the
18 required parking stalls for the building (APN 026-231-
270), zoned R-3, by Michael Chandler (applicant) with
Northpark Properties (property owner).
12. Tentative and Final Parcel Map to create a separate parcel
for the building at 1011 Cadillac Way (Nly portion of Parcel
1, Parcel Map Vol. 13/18), by Redmond Walsh (civil engineer)
for Northpark Properties, Inc. (landowner).
13. Two Sign Exceptions to erect a sign at 101 California Drive
which projects more than 4' over the property line into the
right-of-way and which further exceeds the total amount and
number of signs allowed in the Auto Row area (APN 029-232-
170), by West Coast Sign Co. (applicant) for Burlingame
Ford, Inc. (property owner).

14. Special Permit to extend the operating hours of the Walgreen
Drug store at 1420 Howard Avenue until midnight, seven days
a week (APN 029-201-330), zoned C-1, by Walgreen Drug

(property owners).
15. Special Permit to operate,the Safeway store at 1450 Howard
Avenue 24 hours a day (APN 029-201-190/200/270), zoned C-1,
by Safeway Stores (applicant and property owner).
16. Fence Exception to enclose 10 parking spaces at 1710
Gilbreth Road with an 8' fence and gates; 6' maximum allowed
(APN 026-301-330), zoned M-1, by John Sutti & Associates
(applicant) with Helen Dru Jack (property owner).
17. Sign Exception to allow a 72 SF wall sign at 1608 Gilbreth
Road which will exceed the number of signs permitted in the
M-1 District (APN 026-310-590), by QRS Corporation for
Southwest Auto Leasing (applicant) with King Cole Homes,
Inc. (property owner).
18. Sign Exception to add three signs at 150 Anza Boulevard
which exceed the number and amount of signs allowed (APN
026-342-220/230/240), zoned C-4, by United Suites
Development Company.
