APPROVAL OF AGENDA V. ITEMS FOR ACTION 1. Variance to allow construction of a garage at 126 Clarendon Road that would cause lot coverage to exceed the maximum permitted (APN 029-274- 200), zoned R-1, by Henry and Robin Use (applicants and property owners). 2. Special Permit to allow construction of a garage at 126 Clarendon Road that exceeds total area and height limitations (APN 029-274-200), zoned R-1, by Henry and Robin Use (applicants and property owners). 3. Sign Exception to allow two awning signs at 327 Lorton Avenue which exceed the Sign Code limitations (APN 029-151-130), zoned C-1, by Thomas Vannoni (applicant) with Barbara Day (property owner) (continued from 6/27/83). 4. Use Determination to allow a car rental agency to operate in the C-2 District at 903 California Drive (APN 026-201-070), by Duncan Downing for Agency Rent A Car (applicant) with Richard and Hilda Faziola (property owners) (continued from 6/27/83). 5. Sign Exception to allow a 50 SF sign addition to the existing signage at 50 California Drive that exceeds the total number and amount of signage permitted (APN 029-243-020), zoned C-2, by Ad -Co Sign Company for Putnam Buick (property owner and applicant). 6. Special Permit to allow truck storage in the M-1 District on a portion of the lot at 1645 Rollins Road (APN 025-280-270/350), by Star Excavation (applicant) with Hiram Walker & Sons, Inc. (property owner). VI. ITEMS FOR STUDY 7. Variance to construct a 7305 SF commercial building at 1221 Donnelly Avenue without providing the two parking spaces required for the 2000 SF second floor storage area (APN 029-152-050), zoned C-1, by Lage Andersen and Bill Kubach for Earl Raymond (applicant and property owner). 8. Three Special Permits to construct a 115 room addition to the existing 152 room Ramada Inn at 1250 Bayshore Highway (APN 026-142-080), zoned C-4, by Robinson Mills & Williams (architect) for Ramada Inns, Inc. (applicant and property owner) (Study session to be held in Conference Room B, City Hall). A. 98'-9" overall height is proposed; Special Permit required to exceed 35'. -2- B. 1.35 FAR is proposed; Special Permit required to exceed 1.0 FAR. C. Special Permit required to exceed four of the Design Guidelines: lot coverage (34% proposed vs 25% maximum), front setback (68'-10" proposed vs 92' minimum), apparent width (84.9% proposed vs 40% maximum), and landscaping (40% - 74.3% proposed vs 80% minimum required in the front setback and 8.5% proposed vs 10% minimum required within the paved areas). 9. Variance to allow a 115 room addition to the existing 152 room Ramada Inn at 1250 Bayshore Highway, providing only 254 parking spaces rather than 267 as required (APN 026-142-080), zoned C-4, by Robinson Mills & Williams (architect) for Ramada Inns, Inc. (applicant and property owner) (Study session to be held in Conference Room B, City Hall). VII. CITY PLANNER REPORT - July 5, 1983 City Council actions. - Review of the December 6, 1982 Special Permit for Commercial Recreation and Social Activities at 1450 Rollins Road. VIII. ADJOURNMENT
