AUTHORIZING RATE INCREASE AND AMENDING
AGREEMENT WITH BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES
OF SAN MATEO COUNTY
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME,
County of San Mateo, California that:
WHEREAS, on September 1, 1957, the City entered into
an agreement with the SAN MATEO COUNTY SCAVENGER COMPANY, now
known as BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES OF SAN MATEO COUNTY, for the
collection and disposal of all garbage, rubbish and waste- matter
accumulated within the City of Burlingame, which agreement as
amended thereafter is in full force and effect; and
WHEREAS, by the terms of said agreement the Company has
equested a rate increase, which request has been duly considered
and evaluated by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:
1. Under the terms of paragraph 18 of said agreement the
company has applied to this Council for a rate increase.
2. This Council does hereby determine that the rates
hereinafter set forth are fair to the residents of the City of
Burlingame and are required to maintain a proper operating ratio
between collections and expenses.
3. The following schedule of monthly rates as to
collection shall apply within the City of Burlingame:
CONTAINER SIZE IN GALLONS
1 - 15 16 - 25 26 - 32 33 - 40
$4.27 $5.56 $6.60 $7.90
These are monthly charges for the following services.

Weekly garbage,rear-yard pickup, plus
Collections of over 40 gallons shall be paid for
at the rate of 15.9 cents per gallon.
COMPACTED REFUSE COLLECTION RATES
Compacted refuse collection - 40 cubic yard
front -loading trucks supplied by Company -
$12.69 per cubic yard for each pickup.
4. Said new rates shall be applied to all services
performed on and after October 1, 1984.
5. The City's Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized
Ito sign said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Burlingame.
6. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and instructed to
attest such signature.

introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the
15th day of October, 1984, and was adopted thereafter
by the following voted:
