AUTHORIZING REFUSE COLLECTION RATE INCREASE AND AMENDING
AGREEMENT WITH BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF
BURLINGAME, County of San Mateo, California, that:
WHEREAS, on October 1, 1987, the City entered
into an agreement with BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES OF
CALIFORNIA, for the collection and disposal of all garbage,
rubbish and waste matter accumulated in the City of
Burlingame, and
WHEREAS, by the terms of said agreement
BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES has requested a rate increase,
which request has been duly considered and evaluated by the
City Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND
ORDERED that
1. Under the terms of Article VI of the agreement
between the CITY OF BURLINGAME and BROWNING -FERRIS
INDUSTRIES dated October 1, 1987, BROWNING -FERRIS
INDUSTRIES has applied to this Council for a rate increase.
2. This Council does hereby determine that the rates
hereinafter set forth are fair to the residents of the City
of Burlingame and are required to allow BROWNING -FERRIS
INDUSTRIES reasonable reimbursement for expenses.
3. The following schedule of monthly rates as to
collection shall apply within the City of Burlingame:
A. Customer supplied containers at sideyard or
backyard:
CONTAINER SIZE IN GALLONS
1 - 15 16 - 25 26 - 32 33 - 40
$4.78 $6.22 $7.39 $8.84
Collections of over 40 gallons shall be paid for at
the rate of 17.8 cents per gallon.
In the event that two collections per week are made,
the rate shall be double that for weekly
collections. In the event that more than two
collections per week are made, the rate shall be
17.8 cents per gallon.
B. Compacted Refuse Collection Rates:
(1) Compacted Refuse Collection• - 40 cubic yard
front loading trucks supplied by the Company -
$14.50 per cubic yard for each pickup.
(2) Containerized Compacted Refuse Collection
Customer owned container - rate to be
negotiated between Company and customer.
4. Said new rates shall be applied to all services
performed on and after October 1, 1989.
5. The City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to sign said agreement for and on
behalf of the City of Burlingame
6. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and

Burlingame, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution
introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on
the 4th day of December , 198 9 , and was adopted
thereafter by the following vote:
