RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH MARIO’S
TREE SERVICE, INC. FOR THE 2024 LARGE TREE PRUNING AND REMOVAL IN THE
AMOUNT OF $145,000; TRANSFER $145,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND UNASSIGNED
FUND BALANCE TO THE FY 2024-25 PARKS DIVISION CONTRACTUAL SERVICES
OPERATING BUDGET; AND INCREASE THE BUDGET APPROPRIATION BY $145,000
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has determined the need to perform pruning and
removals of trees that have been recently categorized as City assets, need routine maintenance outside
of already contracted grid pruning, or have increased risk of failure and greater consequence of the
identified potential failure; and
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has taken appropriate proceedings to authorize
construction of the public work and improvements provided for in the attached contract; and
WHEREAS, a notice was duly published on July 22, 2024 for bids for the contract for the
prescribed removal and pruning of eucalyptus trees along California Drive; and
WHEREAS, on August 2, 2024, all proposals were received and opened before the City
Clerk and representatives of the Parks & Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, Mario’s Tree Services, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive and responsible
bid for the project in the amount of $127,255.04, and the Parks & Recreation Department wishes to
establish a contingency of $17,744.96 for necessary unanticipated work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The facts in the recitals above and in the staff report are true and correct and fully
incorporated herein.
2. The Plans and Specifications, including all addenda, are approved and adopted.
3. The bid from Mario’s Tree Service, Inc. in the amount of $127,455.04 is the lowest
responsive and responsible bid for said project and is accepted.
4. A budget amendment to include a transfer of $145,000 from the General Fund
Unassigned Fund Balance to the Park’s Division Contractual Services FY 2024-25
Operating Budget and an additional appropriation of $145,000 to the Parks Division
budget.
5. The City shall enter into a contract, in a not-to-exceed amount of $145,000, with the
successful bidder, Mario’s Tree Service, Inc. for the performance of the prescribed tree
work along California Drive, Bernal Avenue, Vancouver Avenue and the Arguello Drive

side of Mills Canyon, in the form attached hereto, and the City Manager is authorized on
behalf of the City of Burlingame to execute said contract and to approve the labor
materials bond required to be furnished by the contractor.
