HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 027-1990RESOLUTION NO. 27-90 RESOLUTION DENYING SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR CHILD CARE CENTER - 1 LORTON AVENUE RESOLVED, by the{ City Council of the City of Burlingame that: WHEREAS, application was made to the Planning Commission. of the City of Burlingame by Hillsborough Montessori Children's House for a special permit for school use at 1 Lorton Avenue; and WHEREAS, said application was heard by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame on Monday, January 8, 1990, said hearing being noticed as required by law; and WHEREAS, the permit was denied by the Planning Commission, a timely appeal filed by the applicants, and a public hearing upon said appeal scheduled and held by the City Council on February 5, 1990: NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED AND DETERMINED by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: 1. That the following findings of fact are made regarding said application: (a) The application of Hillsborough Montessori Children's House is for school use, specifically child care and pre-school, at 1 Lorton Avenue; (b) The said use as described in the staff reports, other documents and the testimony at the hearing, is not appropriate or compatible with the uses of the properties in the vicinity of the premises for the following reasons: (1) the traffic and parking patterns of the proposed facility will exacerbate the severe parking shortage in the already existing in the vicinity; (2) the proposed use would be hazardous to both users of school and members of the public because of both existing traffic on adjacent and nearby streets and projected traffic impacts of the senior facility currently under construction across the street from the site. 2. The granting of the permit applied for would not be in the interests of the health and welfare of the persons using said property, of the City of Burlingame, and would not be in conformity with reasonable and orderly use of the property. 3. The decision of the Planning Commission is hereby affirmed and said special permit is ied. /1�� MAYOR ��` I, JUDITH A.
