HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 083-1996RESOLUTION NO. 83-96 CONCERNING UNDERGROUNDING OF BART FACILITIES IN BURLINGAME that: RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY of BURLINGAME WHEREAS, an important element of the particular ambiance and sense of community of the City of Burlingame is the continuity of the city on either side of the Cal -Train right of way, and the minimal impact of that transportation corridor upon the atmosphere of uniformity of our city; and WHEREAS, BART has offered to place facilities in right- of-way below grade in Colma, South San Francisco and San Bruno at no cost to those cities; and WHEREAS, the construction of BART facilities at grade in any portion of that transportation corridor will result in inestimable and irreparable negative impact upon that atmosphere of community which this city has established over 88 years; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the policy of this City Council that any and all facilities of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District which are constructed in the City of Burlingame, including but not limited to the currently proposed tail track, shall be constructed in a bored tunnel, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City representatives are directed to convey this resolution and policy to the representatives of BART in any further conversations and negotiations with that agency. \%ctz• Y Mayor I, JUDITH A.
