HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 081-1996that; RESOLUTION NO. 81-96 REVISING APPROPRIATION LIMITS FOR 1994-95, 1995-96, AND 1996-97 PURSUANT TO ARTICLE XIII B OF THE CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame WHEREAS, in November 1979 the voters of the State of California approved Proposition 4, the Gann Appropriation Limit Initiative, which states that beginning July 1, 1980, all state and local government budgets are limited to a formula based upon the 1978-79 budget, plus adjustments for cost of living and population changes, and specific exceptions for service charges, federal and state grants, reserve funds, etc.; and i WHEREAS, the State Legislature adopted Government Code Section 7900 implementing Article XIII B of the California Constitution, and Proposition 111 adopted in June 1990 provides new adjustment formulas; and WHEREAS, during the 1995-1996 audit, our auditors found calculation errors which if modified will result in a changed limit for 1994-95 of $29,676,136 and for 1995-96 of $31,465,310: NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby RESOLVED as follows: 1. For 1996-97 the City's appropriation limit is $33,141,091 2. The Adopted Budget for 1996-97 includes $16,338,203 in appropriations which are subject to limit, and estimates proceeds of taxes of $22,748,203. 3. For 1995-96 the City of Burlingame is within the limits of Article XIII of the California Constitution. MAYOR RES 81-96 I, JUDITH A.
