HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 077-1996RESOLUTION NO. 77-96 CITIZEN'S OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY FUNDS RESOLVED, by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame, California that; WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3229 establishes COPS programs and appropriates $100 million for the state general fund for certain public safety programs for the 1996-1997 fiscal year; and WHEREAS, certain steps are to be taken by the city in order to be eligible for such funds: NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. As required by Assembly Bill 3229, the City Council of the City of Burlingame held a public hearing at their meeting of September 16, 1996, to consider the written request from the Chief of Police for COPS revenues; 2. At said hearing the Council, by a majority vote of the quorum present, adopted the request of the Chief of Police, finding that funds requested were for front line municipal police services and community crime prevention programs; 3. Said funds are to be used for supplemental existing services as required by AB 3229 and shall not be used to supplant any existing funding for the Burlingame Police Department. 0.Y01•]1a I, JUDITH A.
