HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 068-1997RESOLUTION 68-97 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME EXPRESSING SUPPORT TO COMPLETE THE STUDY OF THE EXTENSION OF CALTRAIN TO DOWNTOWN SAN FRANCISCO RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: WHEREAS, CalTrain is a vital link between San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties and the City & County of San Francisco that provides reliable, low-cost service among all the cities along the bayfront of the Peninsula; and WHEREAS, its current terminus located blocks away from Downtown San Francisco and other transit terminals prevents efficient, cost-effective usage of the resources provided; and WHEREAS, the Joint Powers Board that operates CalTrain has spent a great deal of money and effort studying the alternatives and benefits for such an extension and is ready to move forward with environmental studies, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City ofBurlingame is strongly supportive of completing the necessary studies and building an extension of CalTrain that would bring this vital service to Downtown San Francisco. MAYOR I, JUDITH A.
