ORDINANCE REVISING PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR
SINGLE FAMILY HOMES
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does
hereby ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1, Section 25.08.125 of the Burlingame
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"25.08.125 Bedroom. A bedroom is an enclosed
area within a structure which area is designed primarily
for sleeping purposes, meets the room dimension
requirements of the most recent edition of the Uniform
Building Code with local amendments as adopted by the City
Council, and contains one or more windows. A room having
the potential of being a bedroom shall be considered a
bedroom for parking calculation purposes."
Section 2. Section 25..70.030(a) of said code is
hereby amended as follows:
"25.70.030 Requirements for particular uses.
(a) Single-family Dwellings. There shall be at
least one permanently maintained garage or covered carport
for each single-family dwelling with the further
requirement that any single-family dwelling hereafter
constructed with three or four bedrooms shall provide off-
street covered parking space to current Code dimensions for
at least two vehicles. Existing single family dwellings
increased in size to three or four bedrooms shall provide
parking space to current Code dimensions for at least two
vehicles, one of which must be covered by a garage or
carport. Any single family dwelling hereafter expanded or
constructed with five or more bedrooms shall provide off-
street parking for at least three vehicles, two of which
must be covered by a garage or carport, all of which must
meet current Code dimensional requirements. When an
existing single-family dwelling is enlarged or remodeled by
the addition of one or more bedrooms an existing garage not
less than eighteen (18) feet wide and twenty (20) feet deep
shall be considered to provide two covered off-street
parking places.
A vehicle shall not be parked between a structure
and the front or side property line except in a garage,
driveway or other approved parking.
Inoperative vehicles, vehicle parts, boats and
campers (as defined by Section 243 of the Vehicle Code)
shall not be stored or parked in driveways or between a
structure and front or side property line."
Section 3. This ordinance shall be published as
required by law.
