MEETING MINUTES
Regular Meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission
Thursday, April 17, 2014
The regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chair
Lau at 7:11 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame.
1. ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Lau, Eaton, Martin, Hesselgren, Baird, Colson and Baum
Commissioners Absent: None
Staff Present: Director Glomstad, City Manager Goldman, Supervisor Barry and
Recreation Coordinator Buchanan
Others Present: Mike Brunicardi, Burlingame Youth Baseball Association
2. MINUTES
The Minutes of the March 20, 2014 regular meeting were approved.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None
4. OLD BUSINESS
a. Field Density Matrix — The Commission reviewed the revisions to Field Density Matrix.
Supervisor Barry reported the field density matrix takes into account all the fields in Burlingame and
how many kids for each sport the field can support at one time for practices and games.
MOTION by Colson (seconded by Baum): Commission approves the addition of the Field Density
Matrix to be added to the Field Use Policy. MOTION PASSED 7-0.
5. NEW BUSINESS
a. Community Needs Assessment for Capital Improvement Projects — City Manager, Lisa
Goldman and Recreation Coordinator Buchanan presented information on 11 unfunded projects
identified by City Council. A survey has been sent out to the community to gather input on the top
priority items and funding ideas.

6. REPORTS/HANDOUTS
a. Parks & Recreation Reports
1. Monthly Report —
a. Community Center Master Plan Update — A presentation was done by Group 4
Architects and staff to the Planning Commission. Two ideas that were mentioned by the
Commissioners included a seasonal ice rink and seating around a meandering path to
watch games the ball field. The CAC is meeting in May. Additional community
outreach will be at Streets Alive/Farmers Market on May 4th to talk to the public.

b. Foundation Update — Colson reported that the logo has been finished and the
website is up and running. The ability to take donations on the site will be coming in the

c. Upcoming Events: YAC Spaghetti Dinner -4/30; Senior Fair — 5/3; Streets Alive —

7. ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday,
May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Burlingame Recreation Center.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm.
