MEETING MINUTES
Regular Meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission
Thursday, October 16, 2014
The regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chair
Lau at 7:00 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame.
1. ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Lau, Martin, Hesselgren, Baird, Colson & Baum
Commissioners Absent: Eaton
Staff Present: Director Glomstad & Administrative Secretary Borba
Others Present: Bob Palacio, Burlingame; Russell Selkirk, Burlingame, Claire
Schissler, Burlingame
2. MINUTES
Approval of the Minutes of the August 21 & September 18, 2014 regular meetings were
approved with the following changes to the September 18, 2014 Minutes: "Section 1. Roll Call,
Commissioners Present: Lau, Eaton, Hesselgren, Colson; Commissioners Absent: Martin, Baird,
Baum."
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Ralph Richart with Burlingame Soccer Club introduced his successor Kieron Sanders to the
Commission. Mr. Richart thanked Director Glomstad, Supervisor Barry and the Commission for their
assistance and support of the program over the years.
4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Ad Hoc Committee for Review of Parks & Recreation Department Mission Statement -
Glomstad reported a doodle will be going out to set a meeting date for the Committee. Commissioners
Baum and Baird will represent the Commission and Lily Lau will represent as a member of the public.
5. NEW BUSINESS
None
6. REPORTS/HANDOUTS
a. Parks & Recreation Reports
Monthly Report —
a. Victoria Park Pump Station — A pump station will be installed at Victoria Park and
it will alleviate flooding in the neighborhood around the park. The playground will
be renovated as part of the project. There will be community outreach regarding
the replacement playground layout and plan if the project moves forward.
b. Foundation Update — Colson reported the Bocce Tournament on October 18`" is
canceled due to low participation numbers. Another will be planned in the near
future. The Foundation has a new board member who will focus on fundraising.
c. Commission Openings — There are three openings on the Commission. The new
deadline for application submittals is November 6, 2014. The current
Commissioners will remain in place until the positions are filled.

7. ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday,
November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Burlingame Recreation Center.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:23 pm.
