AGREEING TO THE REQUIREMENT OF THE STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM (STIP) FUNDING FOR $337,000 TO REHABILITATE CALIFORNIA DRIVE,
PENINSULA AVENUE AND TROUSDALE DRIVE
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame:
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has authority under the California Government Code §§34000 and
following for the exercise of the powers of a City Government; and
WHEREAS, SB45 reformed the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) (Chapter 97-062,
October 3, 1997); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to SB45, and the regulations promulgated thereunder, eligible project sponsors
wishing to receive State Transportation Improvement Program grants for a project shall submit an
application first with the appropriate metropolitan transportation planning organization (MPO), for review
and inclusion in the MPO's Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP); and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission is the MPO for the San Francisco Bay region;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame is an eligible project sponsor for State Transportation Improvement
Program funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame wishes to submit a grant application to MTC for funds from the State
Transporation Improvement Program in Fiscal Year 1999 for the following project:
California Drive Rehabilitation $ 397,000
Peninsula Avenue Rehabilitation 333,000
Trousdale Drive Rehabilitation 340,000
Total $1,070,000
WHEREAS, MTC requires, as part of the application, a resolution stating the following:
a. the commitment of necessary local matching funds; and
b. that the sponsor understands that the State Transportation Improvement Program funding is

established at the programmed amount, and therefore any cost increase cannot usually be
expected to be funded with State Transportation Improvement Program funds; and
c. the assurance of the sponsor to complete the project as described in the application, and if
approved, as programmed in MTC's TIP.
d. that the sponsor understands that funds must be obligated within specific deadlines as set forth
in SB45 or the project may be removed from the program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED:
The City of Burlingame states the following:
A. The City will provide $733,000 (68.5%) of the project costs in local matching funds
B. The City of Burlingame understands that the State Transportation Improvement
Program funding for the project is fixed at $337,000 that any cost increases must be
funded by the City of Burlingame from local matching funds, and that the City of
Burlingame does not expect any cost increases to be funded with State Transportation
Improvement Program funds; and
C. The project will be built as described in this resolution and, if approved, as
programmed in Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP).
D. The deadlines established by SB45 will be adhered to by the project sponsor.
2. A copy of this resolution will transmitted to MTC.
