RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
APPROVING UNIFORM FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH BROWNING -FERRIS
INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame:
WHEREAS, Browning -Ferns Industries, Inc. (BFI) has provided solid waste collection
services for the City for a number of years; and
WHEREAS, the State of California has imposed mandates on the City to reduce its waste
stream through recycling programs; and
WHEREAS, a new franchise agreement with BFI will combine the solid waste, recycling,
and green waste collection agreements and programs in one agreement that is consistent with
agreements in neighboring cities; and
WHEREAS, this proposed agreement contains guarantees and incentives that should
improve the recycling and green waste collections systems in the City; and
WHEREAS, the agreement establishes a rate system that should give predictability and cost
savings to the consumers in the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED AND ORDERED:
1. The City Manager is authorized and directed to execute the Franchise Collection
Agreement between the City and BFI as generally contained in Attachment A hereto.
2. The Clerk is directed to attest to the signature of the Manager.

foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 6th day of
DECEMBER , 1999, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
