,REPORTS
1. GREER PROPERTY., 245 Chapin Lane.
The City PlAn-ier reported that subsequent to the Commission's discussion
with Mr. Charles Greer at the last regular meeting (December 27, 1967)0
the Building Inspector made an inspection of the property and approved
the new garage, and that it is staff's position that the applicant has
complied with the conditions of the special permit granted little more
than a year ago.
On a motion introduced by Commissioner Kindig, seconded by Commissioner
Pierce and unanimously carried the subject matter was removed from the
agenda.
2. GOLDEN BAY FREIGHT LINES.
The City Planner recalled that Nr. James W. Livesay, owner and operator
of Golden Bay Freight Lines, appeared at the study meeting in December
to make application for a location on Rollins Road, which, he indicated,
would be temporary because of on -site parking problems; at the time,
the Commission suggested, and Mr. Livesay agreed, withholding the appli-
cation until a permanent site was selected so that conditions in the
use would be attached to a permanent location.
The City Planner reported that the business is operating in a new
locations his suggestion that Mr. Livesay be invited to appear at the
next stud' meeting was accepted by the Commission and on a emotion
introduced by Commissioner Brauner, seconded by Commissioner Kindig
and unanimously carried, the subject was referred to the meeting of
February 13, 1968.
NEW BUSINESS
1. POLICING OF TRUCKING OPERATIONS.
Commisssi Mer Kindig inquired if inspections are wade to assure that a
trucking company complies with conditions agreed to at the time the
use permit was granteo..
The City Planner stated that, for the most part, the operations are
fairly well controlled. However, two major problems do exist: one, of
interest to the Commission, relaters to good houseikeeping--the lots are
never properly paved with the result that mud and dust nuisances are
created. He suggested the solution may be a requirement in future per-
mits for v. proper type of paving where circumstances dictate. -Secondly,
use of the streets as a parking lot for trailers by some of the larger
firm; this is € police problem and when the situation becomes unusally
bad, the Fire Inspector alerts the police department.
20 DENNYtS RESTAURANT SIGN.
In response to Commissioner Kindigrs inquiry concerning the legality of
the sign for Denny's Restaurant, installed on the roof of the office
building at 1299 Baysh.ore Highway- across and down the street from the
r _taurant, the City Planner agreed to investigate and report to the
oranissi.on< at, the next meeting.
