the property, Mr. McMillan reported that the matter has been brought
-Ito the attention of the utility companies and they have indicated no
bjection to -relocating. Mr. McMillan stated that at the proper time
a proposal for the utilities will be prepared for the city's approval.
Mr. McMillan referrers to an aerial photograph of the Gallas facility,
advising that Beck Companies intends that the project in Burlingame
shall be similar in size, design and construction,,
During a period of Commission comment, Commissioner Taylor objected
to the architectural design, stating that an English -inn type building
in the location would not be compatible with the decor of the industrial
area,
Comments from the floor were invited.
Mr. D.J. Capps, owner of industrial property on Hinckley Road, pro-
tested that the city should be concerned with curing problems of
ingress and egress in the area before allwwing projects that will
generate heavy --traffic.
There were no further comments from the floor.
In response to a question raised by Commissioner Brauner concerning
the parking, Mr. McMillan stated that the plan was drawn to provide
all of the parking required by code for the hotel and service
facilities. He stated that from a practical starndpoin..t the parking
,could be reduced since the clientele will consist primarily of
"businessmen seeking accommodations in proximity to the airport.,
In response to Commissioner Norberg's comment relative to landscaping,
particularly at the entrance, Mr. McMillan mentioned the general
areas cohere plantings are proposed; the City planner pointed out that,
additionally, the 4-1/2 feet of the city °s right-of-way should be
devoted to landscaping.
The hearing was declared concluded.
A motion introduced by Commissioner Taylor approving the application
for special use permit for construction of Royal Coach Iran qn a site
fronting the westerly line of Bayshore Highway between Hinckley and
Stanton Roads, comprising approximately 10 acres, in accordance with
drawings on file prepared by Walter Pfanenstiel, Architect, for
Beck Companies the applicant to resolve the matter of public
utilities through proper channels m was seconded by Commissioner
Braunera
On the question, with the consent of Commissioners, Chairman Mink
explained that. approval of the use does not imply approval of the
construction designated "Phase II" nor the sign, as shown on the
drawings. Staff was requested to give special attention to land-
scaping details on the :Final drawings
The motion was carried unanimously on roll call,
