The study meeting regularly scheduled for this date was called to order
by Chairman Kindig at 8:00 p.m,
Commissioner Norberg, absent because of a previous commitment, was excused.
A)R STUDIO
The following matters were submitted.;
1, CLARIFICATION REEJUEST'?D VARIANCE GRANT TO FORUM 111W&STOPS CORPORATION,
Mr, Gilmore OgNeil was in attendance to discuss the terms of a Variance
granted by .the Commission under date of October 1.3. 1959, to .Forum
Investors Corporation,
Mr, O'Neil stated that a letter of confirmation received from the Office
of the City Clerk dated October 29, 1959,, listed the stipulations which
were attached to the Variance and tl-i-:re; appeared to be some misunderstand-
ing concerning the First increment of construction.
Upon review, members concurred and the Planning Consultant vaas requested
to conl"er with Mr. O'Neil to prepare a revision for Commission approval
at the next meeting.
2, SPECIAL PERMIT - JOHN R. DAVIS CONTRACTOR STORAGE YARD.
John R. Davis, 20 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo, submitted an application
for a use permit for a contractor° s storage yard to be operated on a
portion of the Dord property in 13aston Industrial Tract,
Mr. Davis advised that he is a masonry contractor and at present rents
on a month to month basis from Mr, Dore. Mr® Davis stated that '-.e occupies
approximately one-third of a large warehouse building and some outside
storage space,
In reply to comments concerning restrictions on outside storage g a'Ir. , Davis
agreed to have available at the time of the public hearing de,. 1_:. �..,i�-0
boundaries of the portion of this property that he will occupyo also in-
forao.a Lion on improvements that are to be made.
The appl_icat-lon was scheduled for public hearing on November 231E ]_9 9,
3. VARIANCE - Walter and Lenore Schuermann,, Driveway Variance.
(Northwest one-half portion Lot 24, Corbitt Subdivision. 736 Laurel Av(
Mr. Walter Schuermann, owner and Mr. Norman McIKellar, real estate salesman,
were in attendance to discuss a variance on an access driveway to the rear
of property located at 736 Laurel Avenue,,
Mr, McK-11ar advised that the property is located in a duplex zone and a
single-family dxrol:ting occupies the front portion of the; The owner
has an opportunity to sell, providing that the variance is granted so
that the prospective buyer would be permitted to build a second dwelling
in the rear.
In reply to Chairman Kindig, the Planning Consultant confirmed that there
is ample area for a second dwelling and that all of the requirements of
the ordinance can be met with the exception of the 10 foot driveway to
the rear structure. The existing driveway is 803^ and the applicant is
requesting a variance to legalize this driveway.
The applicants were advised that in the event the variance were approved,
there is a time limit of one year in which the variance must be exercised.
The application was scheduled for public hearing on November 23, 1959.
4. VARIANCE - PROPERTY SET -BACKS BELLEVUE , DOUGLAS AND PRIMROSE-
J.A. Maillian, Jr., representing Realty Associated, Ltd., submitted a
variance application for less than required setbacks on property located
at the earner of Primrose Road, Bellevue and Douglas Avenues.
A plot plan and a sketch of an apartment building to be built on the
property were reviewed by Commissioners. Following considerable discussion
concerning setback and lot coverage restrictions, Mr. Maillian was ad-
vised that a variance would not be considered on the basis of the plan
submitted.
5. FINAL YIAP - CANYON TERRACE SUBDIVISION
The Final.Map of Canyon Terrace Subdivision, a residential development
off Summit Drive, was submitted by Paul Constantino, developer. The
City Engineer advised that there were no changes from the previously ap-
proved Tentative Map, and the matter was scheduled for formal consideration
on November 23, 195?0
6. FINAL MAP_- BELVEIERE HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION.
The Final Map of Belvedere Heights Subdivision, a residential development
lying westerly of Kenmar Terrace, was submitted by Philip Lygren, civil
engineer, representing the developers. The City Engineer indicated that
the map was in order and the matter was scheduled for formal consideration
at the meeting of November 23, 1959.
